Hochberg Lower School offers K-5 students the chance to experience the challenge of a dual curriculum that combines the best of general and Jewish education in a warm and nurturing environment. Located on Posnack School’s East Campus, Hochberg Lower School provides a richly-engaging, technologically-advanced curriculum that promotes academic student success.

We see lower school as our first and best opportunity to instill a lifelong enthusiasm for learning. Our stimulating curriculum and co-curricular activities engage our students, challenging them to think critically and creatively. Children not only learn about Judaism, they experience and “live it” through prayer, Shabbat and holiday celebrations, and a set of behavioral expectations rooted in Torah and Jewish tradition. “Living” their Judaism has a great impact upon shaping children’s lifelong beliefs, attitudes and values. It helps them develop a more complete, wholesome self-concept and identification with the family unit, their fellow students, the Jewish community, the American people, and the world at large.

“If we wish to have a future generation of identifiable, Torah observant Jews, we must involve ourselves in the guidance of children from the youngest age in the proper Torah path.” (Hashlichus Hachinuchis B’igros Ha’Rebbe). The Lubavitch Hebrew Academy School, founded at the behest of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, believes that every Jewish child has a “birthright” to an authentic Torah education of the highest academic standards, along with an excellent general education to enable him/her to grow into a productive, successful, and committed member of the larger Jewish and world community. As emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, the worldview of Chabad philosophy guides our vision and propels us forward. Our vision is a school where any Jewish child, regardless of affiliation, can receive instruction at his/her level with a view to advancement in all areas. Different backgrounds and levels of knowledge and observance should enrich the school population, and nurture our empathy and acceptance of all Jews as expected of us in the verse, “כמוך לרעך ואהבת”.  Until recently a Jew could be isolated from or assimilated into the world.  Our vision is not a compromise between these two. It is a bold new course charted by the Rebbe’s view of a Jew’s place in the world. Our goal is to educate children to be more than personally observant, rather that they will see themselves as G-d’s personal ambassador to perceive the good in the world, and to bring their own corner of the world closer to the purpose for which it was created.

Yeshiva Elementary School

Address: 7902 Carlyle Ave Miami Beach, FL 33141
Phone: (305) 867-3322

Yeshiva Elementary School was founded in 1987 by local rabbis and teachers who sensed a growing demand for a high quality, nurturing, Torah based day school education in South Florida. From what originally had been a school of five children housed in a single classroom, Y.E.S has grown into a home for over 350 students. By 1999 the school had clearly outgrown its original location on Alton Road, and moved to its current 50,000 square feet facility at 7902 Carlyle Avenue in Miami Beach. The building had previously been home to Temple Ner Tamid, a large Conservative congregation. As the synagogue’s membership moved away, the edifice was largely unused. With beautiful stained glass windows and fine craftsmanship, the building begged for another breath of Jewish life. The Ner Tamid board members were committed to see the building used for Jewish purposes, and a wonderful match was made as Yeshiva Elementary School had found it’s much needed new home. Serving families from Miami to Boca Raton, this has proven to be an excellent location. In recent years, many new arrivals from Latin America have moved within a few miles of the school, and this has contributed greatly to an increase in enrollment. Y.E.S offers a rigorous dual curriculum within a caring environment, supportive of the development of an enduring Jewish identity. In recent years, 100% of Y.E.S graduates have opted to continue their Jewish education in middle and high school.

Torah is Life
At MTA, we strive to imbue every subject through the prism of a Torah perspective. All classes focus on educating joyful, capable, team-oriented leaders, who are successful, confident, kind and compassionate members of the Jewish community.

Life Skills
Life-skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, leadership, emotional-management, time-management, and goal setting are equally as important as textbook data, yet are not the only life skills that help develop well-rounded people. Practical skills such as cooking, nutrition, organizing, woodworking, and gardening, assist in exposing the children to various skills that build both their knowledge base and self-esteem.

Instilling Simcha
Through nurturing the whole child – their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being, children feel safe and happiness blossoms. We teach our students self-control and healthy boundaries; guiding students to have respect for themselves and others. We focus on building positive middos through our middos program and reinforce each specific middah throughout each day. Consequences for poor choices and behavior are learning experiences for the future, not punishment. This enables children to feel confident and self-assured which results in happy children.
